New Jersey Painting ExpertsPaint is inexpensive compared to other home improvement materials. So buying cheap paint is a bad investment because it will inevitably lead to applying extra coats. And whether you're painting yourself or hiring someone, extra coats mean more money. Benjamin Moore is our favorite for excellent coverage.
For walls your best bet is flat paint.
Semi-gloss is very durable so it's best for kitchens, bathrooms and kid's rooms. Gloss with its high sheen is excellent for doors or other areas that get especially dirty; it's used for baseboards and door frames for the same reason.
The big key to a fine paint job is the preparation.
First patch nail holes, cracks and dents with spackle. When the spackle is completely dry, sand and scrape until smooth. Next apply primer. Never paint over wallpaper! If your existing walls are dark and you've chosen a light color paint be prepared for an extra coat or more.
Selecting very bright colors is not a good idea unless you want your walls to be the focal point in your room.
Remember, next to lighting, paint is the most important decorating tool in setting the mood of your rooms.
